MSO 15th (2011) finished with a splash

The Mind Sports Olympiad has ended with the inaugural diving chess world championships won by its inventor Etan Ilfeld.

Andres Kuusk from Estonia did even better than in 2010 in order to win the Pentamind World Championship.

The Junior Pentamind went to Poland and 14 year old Tomasz Bazant.

The Mind Sports Olympiad is the home of intellectual pursuits. We run a yearly international tournaments combining events from a large number of mental disciplines. The MSO competition is open to everyone! We have a huge range of Games many that may bring you new and exciting challenges. These include the classicevents and tournaments. Cards, board, tile, hobby, dice are just some of the categories of event we offer.

MSO 15 Concludes

Talking about Artificial Intelligene, MSO founder, Levy is the best again

Success of the Mind Sport's players has often gone beyond the Mind sports itself. David Levy has managed to win the highly prestigous 2009 Loebner prize. This prize has nothing to do with games or work in the community but is one of the most sought after awards in computing.He has forthe second time won for producing the most human like chatbot (a computer trying to pretend to be a human when having a conversation). Here we give somewhat belated congratulations on David triumphing with the most human computer this year.

New Pentamind tie-breaks discussed

As part of the 2010 MSO organising committee meeting, new tie-breaks for the Pentamind were discussed so as to reduce the chances of a repeat of the 2009 Pentamind tie-break.

First ever Abstract Games Grandmaster awarded

As an event that had its inaugural competition last year, David Pearce's dominance not only allowed him to regain his title but also won him the rank of International Grandmaster.

Stunning win of the Pentamind for Martyn Hamer!

In what must have been one of the biggest surprise results in MSO history Martyn Hamer has won the Pentamind despite Tim Hebbes having achieved the maximum possible score. On the final day of play Martyn managed to win Alfred's Wyke, a game new to the MSO this year and tie for the most coveted title. For the first time ever a tie-break was needed to decide the winner and Dario de Tofoli with a score that would have won in any other year walks away with the bronze medal.

2009 Poker Amateur World Champion is David M. Pearce

Despite failing to regain his Pentamind World championship title, David Pearce has managed to add the Poker Amatuer World Champion title for the first time to his impressive list of victoires.The junior world title went to Matthew Hathrall.

Perfect Pentamind Score for the First Time

Tim Hebbes the 2005 Pentamind World Champion has become the first player ever to achieve a perfect pentamind score of 500. Although, not the first time 5 golds have been won by a player in the same year, Tim's 100% in scrabble, chess, settlers of Catan, acquire and world championship in Lines of Action set a new record.

Dekker uncrowned as Pacru World Champion

Alain Dekker had won the Pacru World Champion every year since it had been held but in a shock result Martyn Hamer stormed through to win the world title.
