The crossword is first marked on correctness once handed in there can be no changes. Then how long it took to finish is used as the deciding factor with the shorter time being the winner in tie-break situations. The competitors are allowed a standard English dictionary (and a native language to english dictionary) but no other reference books are permitted. There maybe a qualifying round in the sponsoring Newspaper that will be used a qualifier for this event.
