Information Games

Games of information or statistical games are games where you cannot see all of your opponent’s pieces or cards. This means that you either have to read your opponent as with Psychological Games or build a picture from the pieces that you have seen and make a guess from your opponents choices of moves. These can be very subtle games often with players appearing to make amazing guesses from the information that they have gleaned and some players prefer to treat them as just a statistical problem where you work out the a priori probabilities. Games such as Mastermind, are not true statistical games as there is perfect information from the responses so it is more a puzzle than a guess.
